Our Coaching Programmes
Being based on the edge of Dartmoor National Park and having run and competed on the mountains, fells and trails at home and abroad from distances of 5km to over 100km, we feel we are ideally placed to help you achieve your goals and more with your off-road running.
Running is much more than being a slave to the watch and striving for the best spilt times. Achieving the best from your running is about how it makes you feel and how it can improve both your physical and mental wellbeing. At the end of the day if you don’t enjoy running, find another pastime that you do enjoy!
Colin, your coach and guide, has been running for over 30 years. He ran in his first event as a junior in the Peak District fells and then went on to run most of the major fell races in Britain, including the Fellsman, Langdale Horseshoe and a Bob Graham round in under 24 hours. He has also raced abroad, including completing the UTMB, a 166km Alpine race.
He has finished on the podium, but also at the back, so he understands what it means to complete a race as well as to compete.
A former instructor in the Royal Marines, Colin is a qualified Level 5 performance coach and instructor, a Level 3 personal trainer and a sports therapist. He s also a qualified mountain leader and specialises in looking after clients on the fells, trails and mountains.
His experience and qualifications gives him the skills to offer support with the following:
Efficient running technique
Skills over varied terrain
Strength training and conditioning
Route selection and navigation
Building mental resilience and confidence
Run Venture is the premier running hub in the south west. Colin and his team have built a huge running community which stretches beyond the south west of Britain. Enrolling on one of our coaching programmes gives you access to this group of like-minded trail, fell and ultra runners, but also a team of experts that we collaborate with such as physiotherapists, podiatrists and nutritionists.
Our coaching programmes are suitable for all abilities, whether you're just starting out or you're a seasoned runner. You can participate online or in-person, depending on whether you are local to us or not.
We recommend a minimum period of commitment of three months, but we would suggest that clients who commit to at least six months will really gain the full benefit of a structured training arrangement.
