About the Event

This popular, well established moorland race, now in its 35th year, starts below Haytor Rock and follows a hilly, single lap route before returning once again to Haytor Rock with a fast downhill scamper to the finish opposite the middle car park at Haytor. The course is approximately 6 miles and is challenging, with several steep ascents and descents and is generally run across rugged, open moorland (apart from two sections through woodland; firstly below Hound Tor and secondly below Haytor) and includes a stream crossing.

The course is completely off-road. Please adhere to the Country Code and note that dogs will not be allowed to accompany runners, nor likewise will any following cyclists. Drinks will be available at Hound Tor (approx. 3 miles) and at the finish.

Race HQ is at the Coach Park, located at the far end of the lower car park. There will be toilets but no showers or changing. We will have a wide selection of goodies, including our famous Trotters cakes. We will also have a BBQ on the go. We hope you will be able to stay and join us in what promises to be a cracking evening.

To celebrate our 35th anniversary of the Haytor Heller we have £200 for a new male or female course record!  The current male course record is 39:21 set in 2011 and the current female course record is 46:38 set in 2000.

Unfortunately, we’re not able to offer camping this year.  We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.  However, there are a number of campsites in the area; some of the closest ones are:- Five Wyches Farm at www.five-wyches-farm.co.uk, Hennock Hideaways at www.hennockhideaways.co.uk, Dartmoor Yurt Holidays at www.dartmooryurtholidays.co.uk and Parkers Farm Holiday Park at www.parkersfarmholidays.co.uk.

There is a strict race limit of 350 so it is advisable to enter early. The race has sold out for seven of the last ten years.

You'll pick up your number from Race HQ on race day.

We will also be accepting number transfers on the day; please note there will be an administrative charge of £3 per

transfer.
