Fell Running Workshops
Our one-day ‘How To Fell Run’ workshop is aimed at all runners that can comfortably run 5k and are looking to develop and progress their fell running skills.
No matter what your objectives, the workshop is designed and developed to be inspirational, fun and provide tips and techniques to enhance your time out on the fells.
Who is it for?
Road and trail runners looking to make the transition to fell
Runners looking for confidence off the beaten track
Runners that want to increase stamina and reduce fatigue on difficult ground
All runners that want an in depth understanding of body positioning and foot placement on uneven terrain.
What does it include?
All workshops are delivered with a maximum group size of 8 people; ensuring time is spent with you as an individual.
The day commences with tea/coffee upon meeting at 10am at The Dragonfly Café in Tavistock, for a quick discussion about the day ahead.
On completion, you will be transported to the Western fringes of Dartmoor 10 minutes away via minibus.
Here you will learn everything there is to know about fell running, starting with a steady 5km run to assess everyone’s ability.
During this run, your run leader will assess your body and foot position and various subjects will be discussed as a group, including:
pre and post run stretching
uphill and downhill techniques
gait and stride
environment, vision and terrain
Following this run, there is the opportunity to rest and rehydrate while the Run Venture crew explain what clothing and attire is expected and ideal for moorland and fell running, showing you different types and brands brought up from its own running shop.
Having learnt new skills, the group will be taken back out onto the moors and guided on an exciting and technical fell run that climbs granite tors, crosses streams and open moorland with further coaching given along the way.
At approximately 2:30pm, we will transport everyone back to the Dragonfly Café for lunch and a chance to debrief and ask questions on the day.
