Run Venture’s Exmoor Weekend Adventure: 2 - 4 Dec 2022

We are doing another weekend trip - this time to Lynton in Devon - in December (Friday 2 - Sunday 4).

This trip is 100% guided by us, but it is greatly influenced by yourselves, and what you want to achieve from it.

Please read through all of the below, paying particular attention to the kit list, which we can further advise on should you need more information.

Friday: Meet 4pm at Run Venture Tavistock (pick up on route available - ask for details). Upon arrival at roughly 7pm, we will drop off our kit, put our runners on and head out on a gentle 4 mile ish trail run (headtorches will be required). On completion, we will settle in and enjoy a simple cooked meal before relaxing for the evening.

Saturday: After a leisurely breakfast, we will prep our kit for a day long run, visiting the coastal path, The Doone, and the Lyn Valley. Lunch will be out on the hill. The run will be approximately 13 miles plus. On return, we will stretch, shower and settle in for the night with a prepared evening meal.

Sunday: As Saturday, after a breakfast, we will set of for another long run in the opposite direction, heading west out to the Valley of Rocks and Woody Bay. On completion, there is the option of either staying on for a further night and a smaller cheeky run the following morning or heading home for a relax.

The base and accommodation is at Countisbury Hill, Lynton, Devon, and is approximately 1.5 miles east of Lynmouth. There is parking at the accommodation. However, for an additional fee of £50, there are six places available in our own transport for those who wish to get a lift from Tavistock. Other pick ups on route can be arranged. Email to inquire.

For the duration of the weekend, we will be accommodated in an old barn converted into a bunkhouse on the North Devon Coast.

The rooms are 2 x 8 person dorms so be prepared to share with others.

Breakfast will be provided daily in the form of cereals, porridge, toast, patisseries, juice, and coffee/ tea. If you have any dietary requirements, please let us know asap.

Lunch will be in the form of snacks on the hill suitable for yourself (see kit list). Opportunity to purchase extra provisions in Lynton will be provided.

Dinner/ evening meal is provided depending on tastes/ nutritional preferences but will be a pot meal of sorts. Lynton and Lynmouth has an abundance of pubs, restaurants and cafes so if you wish to eat out then you are more than welcome to do this at your own cost.
